TSROAW Update 06/14/2008

Well, I'm pleased to report that I've just finished a first rough edit of TSROAW!  At the moment the film runs for about 22 minutes, but my hope is to have it closer to 17 or 18 eventually.  Here's a picture of the FCP timeline to give you a sense of what my life's been like for the last couple weeks.

Sort of un-exciting trailer for an exciting upcoming documentary on David Berman and the Silver Jews on their first ever world tour.

The Moog guitar 06/11/2008

Via Wired, Moog, the famous synthesizer maker, is releasing its new $6500 guitar with infinite sustain.  Whoa.  Here's Lou Reed giving it a spin.

Here's another TED Talk, via Milenko, this time from Susan Blackmore on memes, temes, brains, Darwin, etc..  Enjoy!

TSROAW Edit 06/05/2008

So editing on TSROAW has begun.  I've got a rough assembly of the first 90 seconds of the film put together.  It's an odd feeling, having put a lot of energy into thinking about this film, and then to see it come together.  Sort of bittersweet.  If anyone knows any really great editors please send along their info because I think I'd like to bring in a fresh set of eyes at some point soon to work with the footage as well.  In other news, as Daniel points out, the 60s poster artist Alton Kelley has died.

Blah blah blah 06/03/2008

I haven't really enjoyed Maureen Dowd recently but I think that this editorial is spot on and worth sharing.  She writes about Hillary's infuriating non-concession speech tonight.

At once totally grating and totally captivating here's Jeffrey Lewis's 8 minute history of punk rock via the Lower East Side, 1950 - 1975.
