Handmade Lunch Bags 11/30/2008
Via Liam, a dad hand draws his kid's lunch bags on the daily, and blogs the results. Holy wow. Where the Wild Things Are 11/25/2008
Spike Jonze is directing (with a Dave Eggers script) an adaptation of Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are. You can read an illuminating interview with Jonze here. Also, below, a Gap ad directed by Jonze. A Christmas Tale 11/24/2008
Here's the trailer to the fantastic new Arnaud Desplechin film, A Christmas Tale. Supermassive Black Holes 11/20/2008
Related to the previous post, here's a cool video, via The Daily Galaxy, on supermassive black holes. Planetariums 11/20/2008
I just got home from the new Academy of Sciences where I was wowed by the planetarium. Planetariums are probably my favorite places on earth. It's actually my second this week, having visited the one at New York's Museum of Natural History (pictured) last week. Of the two I actually think I prefer San Francisco's, despite the fact of its having literally no leg room. Anyway, it gets my highest recommendation - state of the art digital projection using almost entirely authentic images. Greg Miller 11/19/2008
Some nice large format photos from Greg Miller, via BOOOOOOOM! Entrance Band 11/17/2008
Greengold Film is proud to present the following video we've produced for The Fader magazine in support of Daniel Arnold's journalistic pursuit of "The New Folk." Read all about it here. Supporting the effort was Sam Macon (who's entry in the Doritos "Crash the Super Bowl" contest can be watched and voted for here!). The video is a short portrait of the Entrance Band and their appearance at (((folkYEAH!)))'s recent Festival in the Forest concert. Enjoy! Allen, Bergman, Ullman 11/10/2008
Some great video of Liv Ullman recounting a (nearly silent) dinner she had with Ingmar Bergman and Woody Allen. Related; an interview Allen gave Time magazine after Bergman's death last year. Wise Blood 11/08/2008
If you should ever find yourself with a spare 100 minutes, watch the above film, John Huston's bizarre and wonderful Wise Blood, with Brad Dourif and Ned Beatty, from 1979. Dr. Strangelove "Interview" 11/08/2008
