This story titled "Nick Nolte Gets Smoked Out" vaguely reminded me of a hilarious story from my second year of high school. Some kind of spokeswoman came in to our class to announce that she was there to fight the harmful effects of smoking cigarettes, and to spread awareness to young people about the dangers of smoking. The official day for this activity, she informed us, had been titled "National Smoke-Out Day" and we all nearly fell out of our chairs laughing at the announcement. She was utterly confused as to why we were laughing and we had to inform her that the phrase had connotations that run contradictory to the message she was espousing. How this supposed campaign made it to a national level with such a ridiculous name baffles me to this day but when i saw the title of this article the hilarity of that moment came rushing back . . .
